is a comparesion of two or more quantities expressed in the
same units
.
Example:
A local election results are given below:
John Howard had 24, 000 votes, Pater Cambell had 28,000 votes and Bob Parker had 16,00 votes. Find the ratio of John Howard to total number of votes.
Answer:
The total votes is found to be
24000 + 28000 + 16000 = 68000. therefore the ratio of John Howard to total number of votes is
24000 : 68000 = 6 : 17.
